July 2015 - SHIPYARDS - LATEST NEWS

Supposedly the larger yacht yards are doing well with new construction, however, based on some of the news within the last 30 days there are two sides to this story. Trinity Yachts based in New Orleans has closed, due in main part to a buyout by Harvey Gulf, a commercial shipbuilding outfit that wants to build LPG supply vessels for the Gulf oil trade.

Meanwhile in the Pacific Northwest, Christensen has been purchased in it's entirety by the majority shareholder, Mr. Henry Luken, following 8 months of rancor and rumors. Hopefully the company will get back to building great quality yachts, the first two of which (both 161') are well underway.

On the other side of the pond, Jongert just announced that they are closing their doors and ISA, based in Ancona, Italy have filed with the local authorities that they are laying off workers and may be headed for re-organization. We will keep you posted on further developments.
